Blepharoplasty surgery in India

Blepharoplasty Cost in India starting from Rs. 70,000 onwards

Eyes provide us with the ability to see and also to express our feelings. Saggy skin on our eyelids and the bags under the eyes make us look tired, aged and dull. Aging causes the skin to lose elasticity, and the constant pull of gravity makes the excessive skin to collect on the lower and upper eyelids. With eyelid surgery in India, at SB Aesthetics, (also known as blepharoplasty), one can tighten the excess sagging skin around the eyes to obtain a more refreshed look.

Blepharoplasty is relatively a hassle-free surgical procedure and can be performed using local anesthesia. Various people suffer from sagging of extra eyelid tissue resulting in the blocking of vision, and requires immediate medical attention. Eyelid surgery can help to improve the quality of life of such patients.

Procedure Of Blepharoplasty

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty, can involve the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both eyelids depending upon the goals of the surgery and recommendations of the surgeon:

  • Upper eyelid surgery involves the placement of incisions in the natural crease of the upper lid, making them well hidden when the eyes are open. The excess skin and protruding fat are removed and the incision is closed. An entire upper eyelid surgery can be completed in approximately 45 minutes to one hour. The surgeon may combine upper eyelid surgery with an eyebrow lift to achieve optimal rejuvenation results if the eyebrows are too low.

  • Lower eyelid surgery can correct conditions with an incision just below the lower lash line. Excess skin in the lower eyelid is removed through this incision. The cosmetic surgeon may also use an incision hidden inside the lower eyelid, or a transconjunctival incision, as an alternative technique to correct lower eyelid conditions and redistribute or remove excess fat.
If the transconjunctival approach is used, there is no visible incision. If the lower eyelids are lax, as they are in many middle-aged individuals, the surgeon may recommend tightening the lower lids in addition to removing skin and/or fat (canthopexy or canthoplasty).

Blepharoplasty surgery in India, at SB Aesthetics, encompasses a number of different surgical techniques on the basis of evaluation of factors such as underlying facial muscles structure, skin elasticity, eyebrows symmetry, structure of the bone, skin type, and age of the candidate. These factors will help decide the amount of muscle, fat, and skin to be removed during the surgery. The surgery can be performed in upper or lower eyelids or both. It may take 1 to 2 hours depending upon the target areas. Following are the steps followed in Blepharoplasty:

  1. The area to be treated is completely sterilized.
  2. General or local anesthesia with IV sedation is administered.
  3. Precise markings will be made to indicate the amount of excess tissues to be removed from the upper or lower eyelids.
  4. In the upper eyelid surgery, the incision is hidden within the natural fold, and in the lower eyelid, the incision is hidden below the lower lashes. Sometimes, the incision can be placed inside the lower eyelid, and excess fat is removed. The laser can also accompany this process to tighten the skin of the lower eyelid.
  5. Scalpels, advanced cutting devices, and surgical scissors are used to remove the excess tissue, and the fat is redistributed in the lower eyelid area to remove the bulges.
  6. Incisions are closed with sutures or skin glue, and some sutures are self-dissolving. In most of the cases, there is virtually no detectable scar.

One can also undergo a facelift, brow lift along with eyelid surgery to achieve an overall facial rejuvenation.

Any Side Effects of the Blepharoplasty / Eyelid Surgery?

The complications and risks of eyelid surgery in India are rare. Usually, a little pain is involved in the surgery and swelling, or bruising can occur after surgery. Dry eyes, light sensitivity, not being able to close their eyes fully, infection, blurred vision, bleeding, pulled-down lower lid lash line are some possible complications from eyelid surgery. However, these are only temporary and if one feels severe pain or uncomfortable they must visit their plastic surgeon.
